This is from a speech that Steve Jobs(creator of macintosh computers) did at a university graduation.
"Again, you can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life."
I like that approach to things. I believe that things happen for a reason, but so often i focus so hard on reaching from one dot to the next. You are the product of your past and connecting of the dots. I like this quote very much.

you would only be silly of you not to ask when you want to ask something that you are curious about...
its basically saying that in life, its a bit like connecting the dots. we want things to go in a certain way and fumble from one dot(experience) to the next dot(experience) in life.
but it is really when we turn around to see the dots(experiences) that we have connected(gone through) in life, to understand that experiences you have gone through are there as proof to the entire make-up of who you are, at this very moment.
We only learn the experiences in life either during or after the fact, not beforehand and too many of us think we do.
Make better sense?
oh yea...and things happen for a reason.
Jen - a friend sent me the same quote this week.
We've had a busy blogging week on the political front based on a piece we posted on our political blog titled "The Whiny Right Wing" about certain political blowhards back here in the States. Truth and Lies: Blog for A Better America: The Whiny Right Wing..
We came back to your site for some musical relief. We liked the Sarah McClaughlin video you had on last week.
And yes, from now, we'll assume all your quotes are totally original.
PS - on connecting dots, my experience is almost exactly like yours, whenever I look back, wherever I'm standing is the only place I can be. It's like fate and destiny in retrospect. The journey is the journey and you're where you are for a reason.
Keep the musical faith,
rmg
Hi there...
I didnt quite understand what you meant by assuming my quotes being totally original?
Unless stated, like I already had done in my blog entry, most of the quotes I've mentioned thus far are from my own perceptions and experiences, or triggers in my memory of other things I've experienced in this lifetime.
Please elaborate.
Jen - Hey. We posted a lyric on our site The Artist Pages and referenced your quote "life without music is like a heart without a beat".
we weren't sure if that was original so we wrote to asked. you confirmed it was. we wanted to give you credit.
Very nice quote.
