At the..

(Pre-Elbow Excitement!)
moment, currently I am reading Roald Dahl's BFG,which is an acronym for Big Friendly Giant.

I really didnt read too many Dahl books when I was younger besides Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Glass Elevator. I do have to say that I am enjoying the story thus far.

It is about a little girl Sophie, who live in the UK in an orphanage, and one night spots a giant wandering the streets with a suitcase and a trumpet looking thing. He goes up to the windows, since he is like 25 ft tall, peeps in and blows the trumpet into the rooms. He notices Sophie spying on him and wisks her away across lands to his home in giant country, where she believes she will soon meet her end. To her discovery, he isnt into eating people and befriends Sophie.

He is a magical creature that is a dream giant, so thats about it, when it comes to the story so far...I am less than 100 pages from the end, but at the moment, the people eating giants that he knows, Sophie is trying to stop them with help from the BFG.

Jassen ordered some cool things that have recently came in. First cool thing is a dimming light switch that is operated either by remote or sensor, so that should be fun to install today at some point. Also, we ordered some 100w light bulbs that more or less replicate daylight. They have a blue tinge and help to make rooms less depressive. Less sad...or so it was advertized.
I like it so far!

So, Elbow.

I didnt end up taking piccies, cuz we didnt want to lug around the camera with chances we would be stopped by security at the venue. The first group to perform was either a Scottish or Irish band by the named Larrikin Love. They were mildly entertaining in a strange way and had a violin player. The next band was drab and I really didnt enjoy them at all, which was Forward Russia...and the third and final opening act was The Duke Spirit. They were cool for about the first 15 mins, but then i started staring at the lights and began to see spots. I think i was nearing the fact that I might pass out, but then decided to close my eyes for a few minutes to avoid that. Silly me!

FINALLY...Elbow appeared and all previous ailments and sense of aching feet disapated. Jassen and I have seen Elbow on 3 other occasions. First was at Glastonbury 2004, then V festival, in which we met them and got autographs(and Guy Garvey, the lead singer, recognized us in the audience after. The next time was at their dvd screener and interview of Leaders of the Freeworld, and Guy noticed us once again, and this last time at Astoria,...all i can say is INTENSE. Jassen and I were dead center about 3-4 rows back from the front and Guy used us as a focal point throughout the gig. He made eye contact with us so often that I had to break it once, cuz I started getting a bit shy from it all. It was awesome though and its nice that he recognized us again.

I am hoping that Elbow play at Glasto 2007...That would totally make my life.:-p

here is a pic that i posted before, but I love it and its from V fest of 2004.

PS...I dont recommend V(irgin) Festival. The atmosphere is utter shit compared to that of Glasto. There are too many teeny boppers that fear mud at this one. There are rumours of Radiohead playing there this year, but I feel if they do, theyve most probably fallin into the gutter of commercial...so, i hope for the best, and that they play at Glasto as well. It would make their 10th anniversary of the last time they played Glasto, so I only find it appropriate and necessary that they attend next years.:-p

Oh...and recommended Elbow Albums...well, all of em...

Asleep in the Back

Cast of Thousands

Leaders of the Free World

It's kinda funny how I discovered them. They were recommended on the Coldplay Message Board and one day, my favourite cd shop was going out of business, Music Warehouse, which was right next to the Barnes and Noble that I work at. Anywho, one day, I was looking through the super cheap cds, since they were getting rid of everything and I found Asleep in the back for literally a few bucks. I bought it and got hooked! Now, about 3+ years have passed and Ive already seen them 4 times. How awesome is that?

I really need to write down bands that I must see at some point or another. I get to that soon!
;-)
