Jassen's Birthday Out!!

(Jassen and I at the Bus Stop/7am)

It was a fun-filled and packed day that left our feet and legs aching!!

These piccies in no particular help to outline what our day was like.

In the morning, we both woke up at about 6am to ready ourselves with showers and prepping the backpack. We managed to leave the house at a little after 7 and caught the bus to Wood Green. When we got to Wood Green, we popped in a McDonalds for some brekkie on the run and managed to get the 29 bus into central london. That bus took just about less than an hour and during that time, we devoured our egg and bacon mcmuffins and orange juices respectively....then walked from the stop into the Piccadilly area. At first, we were a bit lost as to where the London pass tickets(£34 including travelcard 1-6), since Regent street is divided into addresses in about 3-4 directions.:-S

Finally, we figured the right path and arrived early since the place only opens at 9 am and it was about 10 til. We then decided that now would be a great time for Starbucks. We went to one near by, Jassen got a mint mocha frappaccino(I think I got him hooked on those from the states) and I had a tall caramel macchiato(sp). We headed back to the London Pass place and got our pre-booked cards. We got a guide book and I asked about the offer for the free bear, as it was mentioned on line, but not really advertised in lights. At the crest of london shops, we get free bears, so we headed over to one that was a few minutes away. I got a beefeater bear and Jassen got a guard bear. I'll take pics of those later and post them as well.:-p

We then went to Piccadilly tube station so that we could hop on the tube to Tower of London, but our passes were only good after 930, so that would have been a little nice to have been told that. So, we had a bathroom pit stop and really by that time, it was 930. We then traveled, I believe on bakerloo to district in order to get to Tower Hill Tube Station, when we got out, the Tower of London was literally in front of us. We walked a little ways to the ticket booths and presented our London passes and got in free!! We went in and were beingchastisedd into getting audio tour headphones, but we declined. Beware of those dudes people.

So, we headed into the tower, reading up on Henry VIII, since he liked to behead his wives if they couldnt produce offspring...dude, Henry..maybe it was your sperm count.:-S Apparently, at one pt the tower was a prison, etc, so it has been said that the Tower is Haunted. Tower of London is also known as the Bloody Tower.

Beefeaters are the dudes that protect the Tower of london and crown jewels that are also housed here.

(This was a building outside of the Tower of London and I liked the words)

Moving right along, we headed out of the Tower in less than an hour to Tower Bridge. It was nice being over the river

Thames and having the ability to take piccies at that vantage point, but we didnt stay long since it was FREE, to us.

(Looking towards the Tower Bridge)

We then found our way back to the tube station and found ourselves at Monument tube station. The monument was right by the tube and we waited in line being as only about 40-50 people can fit at a time. In total, there were 311 steps to the top. I think it took Jassen and I a few minutes to get up there but we made it an MAN, i was out of breath!! The view was a sight! It's fun looking down below and seeing how small people look from high up. I was tempted to spit, but i held back.:-p

(This is high up on the London Monument)

We took a few pics on the way down as well and ended up getting certificate for our achievements.

(the downward spiral, no?)

As soon as Jassen and I got out of the building, people were asking in line if the 311 steps were worth it and we both said, YES!! And i showed off my certificate.:-p

We found our way back to the tube and headed towards Embankment. Got off, and walked on the bridge near the London Eye and went to Namco, which is a games place.

(On Bridge looking towards London Bridge on our way to Namco Games)

We got 6 free tokens each. We played a game of table ice hockey(Jassen won 7-3) but honestly i was guarding too close which knocked it in each time.:-p

Then there was the rollball game were you have to roll the ball into circles for tickets, and i did good at that. Jassen then played a few rounds of the DDR game(he is good at it!) And we looked around as to what other games there were, we exchanged our 90 tickets for a Sylvestor*sp finger puppet and 2 pieces of candy(one that we got extra from the games dude). We had 6 token left and randomly chose a couple that we might have (accidentally) taken tickets out of the machine from since they forgot them, but we couldnt be too sure.:-p They were happy about that(and surprised) about the tokens.

We then grabbed a quick sandwich and then jumped into the London Aquarium.

(White Tiger Sharks and other fishies)

The best bit of the Aquarium was the touchable sting rays. They were UBER cute and slimy!! We then really started to get tired from all the walking but we trudged on!

(Jassen in the mouth of Poseidon at the London Aquarium)

We then went to Oxford Street to House of Fraser to a place called Selffridges &co. and Jassen recieved a 20 min backrub for under £10, (half off with the London Pass) I probably should have gotten one as well, cuz now, i am feeling it.:-p We then headed into Chinatown......passed into Hamleys and the Apple store.. and went to Chinese restaurant called Furama. We got a 5 dish meal, which was VERY good. It was rice based for the most part.

Corn and Chicken Soup-which was kinda like egg drop a bit
Cripsy duck, with sauce and veggies and wraps
Veggies and spring grass stuff, I forgot what its called.
Sweet and Sour Chicken
Black Bean Chilli Beef stuffz
and rice!

Also a big bottle of evian water.

It was a good meal and I recommend it!

At this point, we made the decision that the zoo was out of the question. Instead, we were pricing Theatre tickets for the Producers on Saturday. There are alot of schemers out there, BEWARE!!

We then headed to HMV to see what was on sale and I somewhat guilt tripped(not entirely) Jassen into going to Virgin Megastore(which was my bad). So, we got a few dvds cheap and then headed to the tube.

And of course, due to timing, there was a defected train at Holborn, so there was like a 30-45 min delay and we just sat on the train, cuz we couldnt be bothered to trek around the tube to find an alternative route.

We were planning on meetin up with some friends at Wetherspoons, but by that time, we were soooo freakin pooped and ended up having an early night. So, hopefully tonight, we can round up the peeps again and try to meet up again.

So, that was Jassen's Birthday....A BUSY 25th but nice. I think all the walking helped me to get more into a fitness state of mind, which is uber excellent!!

Tomorrow, this is when we are heading to central london again for some Noodles at Wagamama's, the Producers(musical), and then staying at a 4-star hotel!! Cant wait for the Jacuzzi tube!!!!:-p(IM A NERDD!!!)

I kinda wish that I took more piccies of things after the Aquarium, but we were so tired, so the idea escaped us. There WILL be pics for this saturday that I will post. So, stay tuned!!

:-)
