It's been 6 years...

since 9/11.

Time passes, but the memory still blazes in vivid colours and emotions. Maybe not as strong as on the day, but the imprint is there.

What a way to burst the American bubble, but I would be lying if I said nothing good came from it.

From the ashes of destruction, a nation was reborn, like phoenix. Maybe a bit more cynical to some, maybe a bit more negative to others, but for me, it was like a smack in the face that woke me up to other things happening in the world.

The States, people are (for the most part)very egocentric, with the majority of people not having a passport to travel. I can't say it's an entirely bad thing, I mean some people just like being in their particular city, with no need to travel outside its borders, others like to see their state, and others visit many states, our neighbours Canada and Mexico, and of course the Caribbean. Still there are the ones with passports, that want to travel the world, they immerse themselves in the language and cultures of a foreign land, to put aside stereotypes(or even come up with new ones), to seek out your own definitions of life and things, and your ever evolving point of view...

What have we learned(or not)in the past 6 years?

You make some good observations, Jen.

I truly fear that the phoenix than rose from the ashes of 9/11 was severely wounded
