I blogged, I believe it was before I got my new job.
I got a job(temporary, but Im sure it has major potential for permanent) at Waterstones. Waterstones, if you are not aware, is one of the biggest, if not the biggest book chain in the U.K. I like to compare it to that of a Barnes & Noble, since Im biased like that. Anywho, I managed to get a job as bookseller and nearly completed my first week there.
At first, I did feel a bit overwhelmed, considering I am staffed at the flagship store, also not forgetting to mention that there are 5 customer floors. HOLY TOLEDO! I am based on ground level, which is more or less the hodge podge of everything at the front of store, stationary, all things LONDON, and travel. The first day, I felt there was so much information flying at me, new faces and names to remember, new computer systems to figure out. Even though I am still quite the newbie there, I do feel that I am starting to get into the groove. I am really starting to make more of the role mine.
I really am a bookstore kinda person. It does make me happy and I'd rather be happy in a job, than in a job I get paid more and not like it.:-p The only way is UP!
Yes....im a big dorkette.:-p

Marvelous, Jen. Sounds great! Many years ago I dreamed of owning a bookstore. Enjoy your new job.
Congrats! Hopefully things there continue to improve.
I'd love to be in your shoes--really. Do you get time to read--in between work?
Nick- Thanks for that! I just want to see how far I can go in the job. I kinda thrive in a bookstore environment...strange as that may sound!
Silver- I think things WILL indeed improve. I know that much.:-p
Vishwa- As for getting time to read in between work, we do have a lunch hour and another 30 minute break in the day, so if i make time, besides eating lunch or dinner, I do.:-p
